365 Days Of Great Pics Photography, #23. Honking included, though not from me.

Here is number 23…honking included, though not from me.

Best part about this photo is what happened afterwards. Just standing there, watching, listening as geese flew overhead. When the sky turned black, I was still there, listening and smiling. It took my mind to another place. Sliver of moon, and the chorus of honking above and beyond. Silhouettes in V formations, some even in W’s. Thousands of migrating birds. A promise to return. Kind of like the salmon. It made me wonder what’s really going on in this universe, in their universe. How they find their way, free but always in danger.

It then occurred to me that their chorus was way off key, kind of like a current of sorts way up in the new night sky, their honking cutting through drafts as a current cuts through river rock. But maybe, just maybe, that’s why they keep honking, having faith that one day it’ll all be sung in unison.
