365 Days Of Great Pics Photography, #123

Here is number 123…

You have no idea how long I’ve wanted a shot like this. This is just cool over and over, again and again. It was a manual focus, better get it right before Mr. Green takes flight, or Great Blue finds better shallows. What you have here is a great blue heron, and what’s that hiding and peering over yonder? Yes, that’s a green heron that found itself in a mess of cattails. My dad and I were pretty stoked with this find. I knew that if I dodged around and over, then got down low, this shot would be possible. Lots of thicket, but it was worth it. Once I found a folded cattail by bent cattail opening through it all, a kind of window into a herons atmosphere, I took the shot. So, what you have is a blue heron off to the left, and then the main focal point off to the right. Mr. Green Heron. This is a shot I’ll always dig.

Here are a few others…

Reflections on vanity. “Oh man, I’m looking good. I’m looking dang good.”

“Excuse the mess…err…bill. You caught me off guard.”

I’ve got a couple favorite photogs that I like going out with. One of them is my dad, the other is Mel. My dad has a new site up, check it for some great shots: Oregon Fotos.
